The workshop will cover the following topics:
- Historical and current migration links between the EU-27 and the SEE region;
- New and old typologies of migration flows: their conceptualisation and transformation;
- The impact of the global economic crisis on the SEE migration processes;
- The migration patterns and integration processes of the SEE and CEE countries in comparison;
- Symmetries and asymmetries of the SEE countries migration policy in relation to the EU-27 immigration policy formation;

Contributions are welcome from a variety of academic disciplines and historical and contemporary perspectives related to South-Eastern Europe and the European migration system.
Paper proposals should contain a preliminary title and an abstract of maximum 500 words that clearly states the research questions, the methodology as well as the source of comparative data. Paper proposals should be sent in electronic forms to: paolo.ruspini@usi.ch.
The authors of accepted proposals will be asked to submit full draft version of their papers until: 23 August 2010.
